vmware service not started on boot

Dear all,

my host is a laptop, so it is shutdown and started regularly. recently I upgrade WS from 8 to 9 and since then the vmware service does not start automatically anymore. Since I start my guest on login, it is kind of annoying. It does not seem to be a problem with the modules since starting the service by hand is no problem:

> sudo service vmware status

Module vmmon loaded

Module vmnet loaded

> sudo service vmware start

Starting VMware services:

   Virtual machine monitor                                                       done

   Virtual machine communication interface                               done

VM communication interface socket family                            done

   Blocking file system                                                            done

   Virtual ethernet                                                                   done

   VMware Authentication Daemon                                           done

   Shared Memory Available                                                     done

The service seems to be set-up properply:

> /sbin/chkconfig | grep vmware

vmware                     2345

vmware-USBArbitrator       2345

vmware-workstation-server  off

> who -r

         run-level 2  2013-05-15 20:18                   last=S

The scrips in /etc/rcN.d/S20vmware are just links to ../init.d/vmware.

Anyone can tell me, what is going on? With all older versions of VMWS (I think I use it since WS5) this was never an issue.

The host runs Linux Mint Debian Edition.

Thanks and cheers,

                    Riko
